Ad-free and open source games for desktop, web, and mobile
J2ME
J2ME, aka MIDP or just "Java", is a major standard for mobile phones.
There are 2 billion mobile phones out there that can run J2ME software.
Download the JAR to your phone
either directly or via your computer. Sometimes you need a JAD (basically a
shortcut) to download the JAR.
Android
You can directly download an Android package (APK) to your Android device, or
go the Android Market and install it from there.
Desktop
Some games have a desktop version which comes as a JNLP (Java Webstart) link.
This requires Java to be installed.
Opening the JNLP will download the appropriate packages and run the game.
You can also save the JNLP to disk, and click on it to start the game.
Flash
This indicates a Flash version. It runs in your web browser, but can also be
downloaded to your desktop to run without web browser. Right-click the
"download" link and click "Save link as ...".
Source
If the source is available, this points to a package where the source can be
found.
I like studying the works of other indie game developers. In the "personal

mostly freeware and adware games.
